Impressions - Prince of Persia (PS3)

Friday, October 31st, 2008

After witnessing the fantastic trailer at TGS, expectations for Ubisoft’s new Prince of Persia game were understandably high. Of all the games announced for the Eurogamer Expo, this was pretty near the top of Hide and Geek’s anticipation list. Arriving at the expo, the first thing on my excitable mind was finding the Ubisoft booth. After watching some kid cock up the same platform section no less than 7 times, I muscled my way to the front of the screen, and took reigns of the controller.

Impressions: Eurogamer Expo ‘08

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Much like the career of an X-Factor winner, the Eurogamer Expo has been and gone all too quickly.  The games were fantastic, the queues were short and a fun time was had by all. It was a fantastic day that put the likes of Play.com Live to shame. Highlights for us included Prince of Persia, Street Fighter IV, Mirrors Edge and Left for Dead, which you’ll be hearing all about shortly.

Currently we’re in the process of gathering our thoughts and converting them to the written form. Impressions on everything we’ve played will hit the site over the next couple of days, so check back soon. If anybody has any specific questions on a game, don’t hesitate to hit the comment button and ask us.

/Jamin would give his right arm for one more round of SFIV.

Impressions: Little Big Planet Beta

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Today, Hide and Geek was lucky enough to be given a beta key for Little Big Planet - meaning we’ve spent some time with the highly anticipated game and can give you our first impressions.

Playing through the introductory level was a somewhat strange experience. As my new sackboy ran through the level, passing stylised faces of the developers in the background - there was an overwhelming sense that this was going to be something special. The smooth graphics and fluid animations almost took me by suprise, not that I expected the visuals to be bad - but I didn’t expect something this good from a platform game. It wasn’t long before Stephen Fry’s familiar voice filled the level, explaining what was going on and giving a brief tutorial.  As I soaked everything in, I prepared myself for my first adventure with Little Big Planet.

Impressions: The World Ends With You

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

If you write poetry, have a lip piercing and wear skinny jeans, the chances are that you conform to the social trend known as emo. You may also really enjoy Square Enix’s The World Ends With You, a quirky and original RPG for the DS. Due to the games character design and emotional themes, Hide and Geek recommends the game to all emos. We also recommend that you cut your hair and cheer the hell up.

The games been out a fair while now, meaning a review would be a waste of our precious time. However, in a new category of posts aptly named ‘Impressions’ - the Hide and Geek team will offer their, erm, impressions on any noteworthy games that they’re playing. Jamin is currently playing through the afformentioned game and would like to briefly share his first impressions…
