Interview: Chris Thomas, an Indoor Hero

Thers’s always been a strong relationship between gaming and webcomics. The two have been flirting with each other for many years now, and numerous gaming webcomics have sprung up across the web. With webcomics such as Penny Arcade now hosting it’s own expo in addition to it’s very own game, it’s clear just how influential these comics can be. Hide and Geek recently spoke with Chris Thomas, mastermind behind UK webcomic sensation Indoor Heroes, about the site and general webcomic culture.

Interview: Mark Eyles on UK Games Degrees

Games courses in the UK have been given some bad press recently, with many journalists and industry professionals referring to them as ‘mickey mouse‘ degrees.  David Braben, chairman of Frontier Developments and a spokesman for “Games Up?”, said: “95% of video gaming degrees are simply not fit for purpose“. Are these kinds of comments justified? Or is the games industry just looking to place blame?

Hide and Geek managed to grab a short interview with Mark Eyles - principal lecturer of a games course at Portsmouth University. Before leading a course on Computer Game Technology, Mark had worked in the games industry for 23 years. He therefore has a great understanding of what it takes to break into the games industry and what problems courses such as this may face.

Fable fans rejoice!

In a recent interview with GameTrailers, Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux speaks about the co-op aspects of Fable 2 in addition to some much more interesting information. Molyneux mentions not only Fable 3, but also Fable 4 and 5. Based on the 3 year development time for Fable 2, we can expect Fable 3,4 and 5 to continue in 2011, 2014 and 2017, respectively.
