It seems that gamers have settled in one of two camps regarding Dante’s Inferno; those that welcome another God of War take on the action genre, and those that, well, don’t. EA’s hellish take on Sony’s flagship title was going to have to do a lot to prove itself, and getting attention from under Kratos’s shadow would take some doing. For me at least, this new trailer has done just that, but see what you think, and set up camp.
One of the Wii’s saving graces next year will be coming in the form of Madworld, the black, white and red action title developed by Platinum Games. The trailer below is fresh from the Nintendo Summit ‘08, once again reminding gamers how stylish and insanely cool this game is going to be. Madworld is a game that keeps finding itself higher and higher up Hide and Geek’s wanted list.
The word ‘cool’ needs redefining. Blogging live from the Daily Telegraph offices, I’ve managed to squeeze this post into my lunch break. This latest trailer for the Wii gore-fest ‘Mad World’ shows just how ‘cool’ this game is going to be. Motorbikes riding down the sides of buildings, people being torn to shreads by turbines, tornados, chainsaws and lots of blood.
I may be in the minority when I say this; but I was initially more impressed with the original Saints Row than I was with Grand Theft Auto IV. Bold statement I know. Maybe it was the length of time between playing San Andreas and Saints Row, maybe it was the level of customisation or maybe it was just the shiny new graphics. Either way I enjoyed Saints Row a lot. Here then is the trailer for Saints Row 2. My impressions of the sequel are going to be directly compared to GTA:IV now, so there’s a lot to live up to.
I originally had a rather witty title planned for this post, something along the lines of ‘Say Hello to my little… Trailer?’, but soon after I stopped congratulating myself I realised I’d used a Scarface quote and not The Godfather. So you’re stuck with an incredibly boring title. Anyway, enough of my ramblings, the debut trailer for Godfather II is below - you know what to do.
Released on the same day as the sequel to Rare’s Xbox 360 PokéGarden Crossing Simulator of 2006, this double team of pinata smashingly good fun will be beaten open to the public on September 5th in the UK.
Rare also posted a notably amusing new teaser trailer on Youtube, parodying the Halo 3 teasers that preceeded the game. “On the seventh day, we ran out of candy…”
The video below is a commercial for the new Metal Gear Ac!d Mobile title. Created entirely from thumbs, the commercial will certainly give MGS4 fans something to chuckle about. It gets a big thumbs up from us…
Here at Hide and Geek we’re big fans of Greek mythology, a theme that games have adopted and portrayed to a high standard. David Jaffe of God of War fame had better brace himself though, Codemasters new RPG Rise of the Argonauts looks like it could steal the mythology crown. As the ‘Departure’ trailer below shows, this is certainly a game to keep an eye on. Sticking closely to Grecian lore, the game follows Jason as he journeys on a quest for the golden fleece.
Rise of the Argonauts is due for release this autumn.
This game was featured on the 1up Show last week and it instantly got me interested after seeing the time manipulation in action and realising the potential for it.
The game revolves around P.B. Winterbottom, and his love for pie, delicious pie. His love for pie landed him in something of a predicament where he could manipulate time and, most importantly, interact with previous versions of himself. Navigating through a world described by the game’s official web site as a “macabre and comical silent film world filled with mischief” your aim… is to eat pie. To understand this game, I recommend watching the video below.
Bioware’s upcoming RPG, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, has a new, spangly trailer for all to enjoy. With all the sub-standard Sonic games of recent times, there’s a strong chance that Bioware can bring some quality back to the ageing idol. With Dr Robotnik out the picture, Bioware have created a brand new story that will put the usual Sonic narrative to shame. Sonic Chronicles is due out this autumn.
